I haven't (yet) purchased any baby books, but after reading this article, I think I should. It surprised me on on more than one level. This is the kind of stuff no one tells you, I guess. So read on, and let me know what you think -- Is this list even realistic, or complete, for that matter? Or am I worried for no reason?
"12 Utterly Unglamorous Things to Have on Hand Postdelivery"

Hehe. The hospital will provide the pads on the bed. But you will need boat sized pads and crappy panties. To put it simply, you will be pretty gross but high on pain meds. Now, the dermoplast is your very best friend. I couldn't sit down without it. Also? Look into Tucks pads. They make wiping easier. :( any scary question you have I will be glad to answer. I love talking about all of the horrible stuff. :)
ReplyDeleteOh...so I just looked at the rest of the list. You will need boob pads and nipple creams too. Your body is going to be hurting in different areas and all you can do is laugh about it. The rest of the stuff the hospital will provide. Like the water bottle. Also handy. You're going to do great so don't worry about a thing. Oh! And chapstick is something good to have, because lips get dry from all the sucking in and breathing out. And a good book.
ReplyDeleteYou will need every single thing on this list (and in greater quantity than what the hospital provides, especially if you're only in overnight) . And yes, water bottles, chapstick, book/magazines, slipper socks with grippies on the soles, a nice bathrobe, cute hair accessories to dress up a ponytail, mouthwash or strong gum, Flintstones vitamins, heating pad, ice packs, and pillows & blankets in every single room of the house. I can give details for everything I've listed if you like, but other people may get bored/grossed out.
